I am sure my commenters can come up with tons more, probably some big ones that are not coming to mind at the moment (I did not list slavery, the abolitionist movement, the civil war, Reconstruction or Lincoln since they are, in fact, covered in history class, however poorly). So, this is proposing a month dedicated to hatred towards people of a race (ie white people and all of the “horrible things they’ve done”). Is that not being completely hypocritical, listing these horrible events in history solely to blame “white people” or an entire population? What about the white people who have done good and were not associated with these events, this blame towards an entire population is disgusting. Did Hitler not blame every Jew for “being greedy” and causing famine in Germany? It bothers me a lot when people try to stereotype one race as an entire entity of wrong, regardless if they are white or a minority. What about the horrible acts of violence other races have committed? The thousands of Filipinos killed by the Japanese during WWII? The ongoing drug wars and innocent people being killed in Mexico? Oh and by the way THERE IS acknowledgement of the amazing people of other cultures and of other minority races. Why devote an entire list naming every wrong thing the “white population has done” when other people would be outraged if this was a list targeting their race. If you want to promote peace, practice it.
